Secretary's Notes from July 1, 2009 and the Rutland Parade

Good Morning,

As the song says, "The sun is shining, the grass is green", which is exactly how it was for yesterday's parade in Rutland. Twelve of us represented the chapter in the trolley for the parade which was about 1.25 hours long from the time we actually started moving. The crowd was as large as any that I have seen in recent parades.

Gary Swanson announced that Mark is working on two medleys for our annual show, and is also adding "O Holy Night" by Clancy from our red Christmas carol book. Please dig out your Christmas red book of songs, as I only have the red books from the following individuals:

George Cote
Don Jolie
Kim Gross
Mike Rigero
George Swanson
Don Hayes

Naturally I will have copies for the newer chorus members who never received the red Christmas books, otherwise, please let me know if you don't have access to your red Christmas book. Please remember we did not use them at Christmas time last year, but many of you took your red Christmas book to remove "Little Drummer Boy", and "The Hallelujah Chorus" earlier this year. I thank you in advance for your help on this matter.

The Music Committee will be meeting this next Wednesday at 6:45 and the VLQ will be singing off site also. Check with Rod Cantwell for details on the VLQ. The music committee is looking for your ideas for possibly changing the trolley repertoire, possibly adding some more up-tunes as we have been using the same basic pole cat list for over eight years now, with an occasional regular repertoire song added.

Don Jolie has announced the golf outing will be on August 2nd. This means we need FORTY golfers to sign up with payment ASAP. Please see Don J. for more details on this. Also, please remember the Harmony Extreme concert will be August 8th. I will have details on this soon.

Jeff Dickens announced he is looking to see all advertisements for the annual show in by August 15th. Last but certainly not least, be sure and check out the NEW web site created by Jeff Dickens. Jeff is looking for some chorus members to help in updating a specific page of the web site. Please see Jeff for more details on this.

Thank you,

Don Carlson
